Dear Mazher,

Good Afternoon,

How is everybody at the Canadian Business School? I thought I would take the time to give everyone a quick update as to where my career has taken me since I finished the MCSE course with your school.

After becomong MCSE certified back in July 1999, I spent two months putting out resumes and attending various career fairs in both Toronto and Ottawa -- more on that later.

Thanks to Jeff's help, I managed to put together not only a winning resume but also secure an interview with Data Technology Software in Toronto. Four days after my interview, I recieved a phone call from the Director of Professional Services offering me a contract position. I accepted and became the Infornation Support person for an office of 23 people.

Responsibilities included supporting the local area network, purchasing equipment, PC installations, and on one occasion, an NT server installation in Ottawa. The company's primary business was warehouse management, installing the handheld scanners to manage stock, and writing the appropriate software.

My job with Data Technology forced me to really focus on the product for set-up and connectivity issues. I also provided support for these clients, not to mention the internal office members.

As for the career fair in Ottawa, I attended one in September, submitting my resume to every company where an MCSE would be of value. One company responded in late December asking if I was still interested in a position and if I could come to Otawwa for an interview.

As a result, I am now the Senior Systems Administrator for C-MAC Engineering Inc. in Kanata, Ontario. My role here is IS support for an office of around 25 people, a manufacturing plant, and for approximately 50 - 60 new design engineers coming in March.

I will have the resposibility of setting up an entire network from the ground up with all new equipment. This is a position I dreamed of when I first started my MCSE studies.

Many things have changed since I first started at the Canadian Business School nearly a year ago, and after watching a family member go through the same process with another school, it is clearly eveident that CBS has given me the distinctive edge, especially in having ZHEN for an instructor. He truly helped me in getting to where I am now with the knowledge base I need to succeed.

Thank-you to everyone, and keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

Neil McCabe
